The PASC U11G VIPERS traveled to a chilly Mechanicsburg, PA to play in the 2016 Icebreaker Tournament.
This was the girl’s first games played outside and on grass this spring. The girl's first opponent was GYSC Sabotage. The transition to outdoor took time and required some adjustments during the game. But the team finished strong with a 3-2 win.
The girl’s second opponent was FC York 04 Elite. The girls continued to build with aggressive pressure on the ball and so did FC York. Neither team could not find the back of the net and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
The last game set up a show down between the PASC Vipers and Mechanicsburg Tornados. The teams were in 1st and 2nd place and had met each other 3 times previously in the fall, with Vipers earning a victory and 2 draws. This weekend’s game was another physical and fast paced effort with both team playing extremely well and creating opportunities. The Vipers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a fast transition and then scored another goal on a sharp cross in front of the goal to make it 2-0. The Tornados never gave up and continued to attack, but Vipers stayed organized on defense, pressured the ball all over the field and worked equally hard to keep possession of the ball.
The Viper won the game 2-0 and were crowned champions of the U11 Girls Black division.
The Coaching Staff is extremely impressed with how the girls played as they returned outdoors. Game play continued to improve quarter by quarter and the girl’s finished the day with some of their best soccer to close out the tournament.
Congratulations to the VIPERS.
