Thank You From Philadelphia Union

November 2011

Dear Parkland,

Despite a spirited effort by our team last night we were eliminated from the 2011 MLS Cup Playoffs. It is a terrible feeling, one that is difficult to put into words, but it also gives me a moment to step back and recognize the huge accomplishments in our short history.

Three years ago we set out to build the Union with the dream of creating a "family" club. We were determined to... build a world-class sports organization both on and off the field that truly puts fans first. From the very first day we announced this franchise to the breathtaking atmosphere at our first home playoff game last Sunday, you have let us into your hearts. For that, we thank you from the bottom of ours.

The 18,500 passionate fans who flock to PPL Park for each home game and the tens of thousands who watch on television are truly part of our family – the Union family. I can't help but think about all the memories we've shared together over the last eight months.

On the field our players have created magical moments, fueled by your inspiring support and the best atmosphere in all of Major League Soccer. You brought signs. You cheered loudly. You made the DOOP song a tradition, a lifestyle even. You were loyal throughout, encouraging our players and supporting the team unconditionally. Last night alone we received hundreds of messages on Facebook and Twitter showing your undying commitment. For that, our entire organization says THANK YOU!

As we close the book on our historic second season, as great as this year has been, we BELIEVE the best is still yet to come. As one of the youngest teams in the league built for the long haul, and with the best fans in MLS, we have a bright future ahead.

We invite you to share your memories of the season by posting comments and/or photos on our Facebook page. We will continue to work hard in the offseason and listen closely to our most important family members – you.

See you on opening day in March. It's right around the corner!
